Challenge Time - Embellish (Trees) Color Trends Challenge

Hey guys. I'm excited to participate in another great Color Trends Challenge from the Embellish Magazine blog. It involves trees, which I hardly ever use on cards. It also involves some beautiful colors: olive green, muted yellow, light aqua, and a deep mushroom-y brown.

Here is the inspiration photo:

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.

Challenge - Color Throwdown #204

Color Throwdowns are awesome!  I was very challenged this week, but I had a blast.  I can see a few ways to improve this card (now that it's finished), but overall I am pleased.  I hope you enjoy.  Thanks for stopping by!

Here is the color inspiration:

And, here is my card (details are below the pics):

I paper pieced the hot air balloon using the My Mind's Eye "A Happy Heart" stack for the top section, Papertrey Ink's Teracotta Tile for the middle section, and K&Company's "Que Sera" collection for the bottom section.  The balloon's basket also came from the My Mind's eye collection.  The stamp is by Studio G (a recent Wal-Mart find).  Thanks again for stopping by.

Embellish Color Trends Challenge - Buttons

I love the Embellish Magazine Color Trends Challenge.  I look forward to the unexpected, fab cards they show each week.  However, I have only entered once.  I decided that it is time to do something about my limited number of entries.  So this week I have two cards.

Sidebar: These cards were so hard for me to photograph.  Please bear with me as photography is not in my best area!

Here is the inspiration photo:

Here is my first card (I used several techniques here.  I masked, glimmer misted, paper-pieced, colored with copics and heat embossed the sentiment.  So fun!):

And, here is the second:

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger - Type Hype

I decided to play along with this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger mostly because the image/color combination scared me a little.  Okay, it scared me a lot.  Mostly because the typewriter image almost seems too retro for the color combination and the modern font on the typewriter keys.  Also, I love the colors, but I may not have put them together on my own - at least not with black.  I was challenged, but I had fun with this card.

Here is the inspiration photo:

And here is my entry:

I tried to depict retro with the distressed license plate and the aged news print strips.  The modern touch comes from the clear embossed flourishes on the dark card base, and the text message phraseology.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by.

Color Throwdown Challenge #203

I just had to enter this Color Throwdown #203 challenge.  The colors are great, but that orange really threw me.  I had fun, and my creative mojo is coming back slowly, but surely.

I did not use any patterned papers, except for the woodgrain that the sentiment is on.  It made this even more challenging for me.  I'm pleased with it though.  I hope you enjoy.

Here's a link to the challenge I'm entering:

Color Challenge - NOT!!!

I happily created this card on Tuesday for the CAS-ual challenge blog, but I was too late to enter.  Then I remembered the Embellish challenge this time is dry embossing, so I thought I'd enter that.  However, I did not use the colors they chose.  Oh well.  I'm pleased with the card, and thought I'd share.  I hope you enjoy.

I used my Sizzix dress form die. I dry embossed it using a Sizzix diamond pattern folder, added the floral ribbon to make the dress pouf-ey, and added a touch of Marth Stewart Onyx glitter. I stamped "be happy" with Judikins Sticky Stuff and added glitter. It's like Stampin' Up Heat 'n' Stick powder. Love it!

Overall, I'm pleased with how it came out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Challenge-ing Times - Embellish Bicycle Color Trends Challenge

I can't believe I am actually entering my first challenge. My mojo has been on hiatus for a while, so for me this is BIG news!

I am entering the Embellish Magazine "Bicycle Color Trends Challenge" for this week. The challenge is to create a paper project with bicycles and using the color palette showcased in the inspiration graphic (shown at the end of this post).

Here is my card:

Why don't you head over to embellishmagazine.com/blog and join in on the fun!
